Chocolate Fling 2016 Fundraiser for The Epilepsy Foundation of Southeast Tennessee

Now in it’s 9th year, The Chocolate Fling is the signature fundraising event for The Epilepsy Foundation of Southeast Tennessee. Part live, part silent auction, the Fling is a tour de force of chocolate.

Local vendors included B’s Sweets, Cupcake Kitchen, Sugary Creations, Sweet Creations by Sonya, TerraMae, Twins Bakery plus chocolatiers Sweet Creations by Sonya, The Chocolate Box, and The Hot Chocolatier. Culinard and Publix were also on hand too along with Wildwood Lifestyle Center.

Vendors lined the walls of the event space like a giant box of chocolate while patrons went round and round eagerly filling their plates with samples. We saw everything from s’mores, truffles, macaroons, petit fours, to dipped strawberries, chocolate balls and gnauche cups.

TerraMae¬†also brought along sliced cucumbers topped with roasted garlic hummus in addition to their Aztec Chocolate Macaroons. The macaroons caught the eye (and taste buds) of the judges who awarded them the “Judges Choice” Award.

Cupcake KitchenThe Cupcake Kitchen snagged “Best Creative Display” for obvious reasons. Their table was fun, imaginative and tasty.

The People’s Choice Award went to The Chocolate Box. Before the winner was announced we’d already decided they were one of our favorites along with Sweet Creations By Sonya. The C Box’s Triple Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Gnauche topped with vanilla whipped cream and adorned with fruit danced on the tongue and brought smiles to faces. Sweet Creations By Sonya featured a variety of chocolate balls (peanut butter, chocolate gnauche, cheesecake, orange, strawberry) that melted divinely once inside the mouth.

All in all it was a great event that raised a lot of money for a worthy cause as well as exposed a lot of people to a number of local chocolatiers.

Big thanks to Rita Moore, Education Services Director, at The Epilepsy Foundation for all her assistance. Be sure and check out the 10th Anniversary of the event next year. Rita said it’s going to be bigger and better than all the rest. They’re billing it “The Decade of Decadence”. Chocolate Fling 2017 here we come!
